Idea: A plaster-casting sculpture that captures the ethereal essence of a floating person. Because whole-body casting is difficult, selected body parts (face and hands) are composed to form a harmonious figure, inspired by the image of a swimmer and the paintings of Ophelia. The piece explores the tension between the solid, tactile texture of plaster and a feeling of weightlessness.
My plaster-casting sculpture showcases select parts of the face and hands in detail to convey beauty and mystery in suspension—where heaviness meets float.
